That's a question we often ask ourselves when we're about to leave home or work or school. We always want to make sure we have everything along that needs to be along. Now as common as that question is, it's still a question every one of us has to ask when it comes time to leave this life. "Do I have everything I need for eternity?"
I have some bad news for you, Friend. On our own, neither you nor I nor anyone else has everything we need for eternity and that leaves us with all kinds of other questions. "What is my purpose in life?" "How can I find real peace?" "How will I deal with this guilt?" "How can I find the truth?" "Where can I find stability?"
Every single one of us has questions like these because every one of us is missing something very important...or perhaps I should say someone very important--Jesus Christ, your Savior and mine, who takes away all that guilt or worry or uncertainty that's weighing you down. In him you and I find purpose for life, real peace and stability. We find out all about him in the Bible--the only source of truth amidst all the confusing, conflicting messages buzzing around us.
Below are a few answers to some of those "Big" questions you might have. If you have a question that's not answered, feel free to fill out the form below and we'll try to provide a timely reply from God's Word. You can also visit What About Jesus?.
If you have questions about what our church or church body--the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod--teaches, give us a call, e-mail, check out our mission statement below or This We Believe. You can also Grow in God's Word through one of our Bible Study opportunities!
Above all, we would love to share this message of God's love and forgiveness with you personally. We invite you to join us for worship (Here's our Visitor's Guide) or let's set up a visit to talk a little more about the "Big" questions you might have. I pray the Lord will provide you with real answers to your real questions through our congregation. May he richly bless you with his peace!
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Jeremiah Gumm
A Few Answers to Life's "Big" Questions
Peace comes from Christ alone
Are you anxious? Wondering where you can find peace of any kind? Real peace comes only from Jesus Christ, your Lord and Savior. "Salvation is found in no one else for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)
The Bible is 100% true and relevant for you today
Are you bombarded with all kinds of conflicting and confusing messages? The Bible is God's Word and is completely true and relevant for your life. In reality, it is the only source of truth amidst so much confusion. At Cross of Christ, we base all our teaching solely on the Bible. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16)
Eternal life is a free gift through Jesus Christ
Are you hurting with guilt? Does it hurt your relationships? God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to rescue ALL people from the consequences of our failings and make us right with him again. That includes YOU! Jesus did that by living a perfect life here in our world, dying in our place, and rising to life again. By God's mercy that becomes ours only through a Spirit-created faith in Jesus as our Savior. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is a gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
This good news about Jesus Christ will never change
Are you searching for stability? The good news about Jesus Christ has never changed and will never change no matter what. "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)
